EXCLUSIVE! Captain America: Civil War Filming Funeral Scene This Week

Production for one of next year’s biggest movies, Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Civil War, is in full swing and will include an ensemble of superheroes as large as the recent box office hit Avengers: Age of Ultron. However, according to my sources, something extremely interesting is being filmed for the movie this week that may just be the most pivotal moment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s history.

On Tuesday, May 12th, Captain America: Civil War will be filming what is simply being referred to as “a funeral scene” in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The production is currently operating under the working title of Sputnik, and extras are being asked to wear formal, solid black attire for the event. The weather forecast for Tuesday is a cloudy day, with thunderstorms throughout the afternoon, making for a sullen, grim funeral.

Due to the film being based off the extremely popular comic book series by the same name, the first funeral that comes to mind is that of Captain America, whose surrender, followed by his assassination marked the conclusion of the superhero Civil War. His death coming to film has been the source of endless speculation pre-dating even the release of the second Captain America film, with Sebastian Stan’s character the Winter Soldier taking over as Captain America like in the comics. Stan’s contract with Marvel having included a contract for nine total films (more than even Chris Evans, who only signed on for 6 films) has also contributed to the theories.

It’s important to note that directors Joe and Anthony Russo revealed some key information about the film long before the subtitle ‘Civil War’ was ever revealed, detailing that the third installment in the Captain America franchise is just as much a sequel to Captain America: Winter Soldier, if not more so than Avengers: Age of Ultron. When discussing the Winter Soldier film last year before the blockbuster’s release, Joe Russo stated that Captain America 3 would actually be more like ‘Winter Soldier: Part 2’.

The movie is clearly written as a two-parter. There is a, there would seem to, the next movie would seem to require a continuation of the journey of the Winter Soldier.

Chris Evans, the actor behind Steve Rogers, A.K.A. Captain America, has also discussed his potential death in future films, saying he feels fairly certain that his character will die off from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I’m sure it’ll happen at some point, all good things have to come to an end. But I’m really happy playing the character.”

  1. Maybe it’s a funeral for Peggy?

Otherwise, throw a dart and you could hit anyone. But if they kill Steve, that’ll be the last Marvel movie I go to see. I like Bucky as the Winter Soldier but I have no interest in BuckyCap or anyone else but Steve being Cap, period.

    1. Well then I guess your prepared to never go see another marvel movie again after Avengers 3, cause Chris Evans has been talking about leaving when his contract is up for quite some time
